Singer/songwriter S.J. Tucker and I have collaborated on many illustrations inspired by her songs but her Firebird's Child has a special connection for me. As a symbol of rebirth, the phoenix is a concept that I have a strong connection with.
The heraldic style that Firebird's Child takes is a nod to my love of 15th and 16th century literature.

To each age, a phoenix glows bright. Rising and soaring, she sparks majesty in her wake.
