Rabbit's Song - Portico Arts - Art Print by Elizabeth Legget
This song is very dear to my heart.  My daughter (who is now an amazing young woman) was born in both the year of the rabbit and year of the tiger, depending on if you were checking the western or the eastern calendar.  (I actually know this is not really true, but it makes a good story so bear with me!)  I am year of the monkey and I worried that we would constantly fight if she was a tiger.  (They are opposites and enemies!)  I decided to nickname her Rabbit.  She informed me when she was about six that she was a Ribber...a tiger rabbit!  That is the best a mom can hope for!

And, naturally, Sooj's version : Rabbit's Song (Blessings)

"At last He turned to Rabbit
With a twinkle in his eye
"You'll be my favorite creature
And here's the reason why:
Your eyes are bright, your feet are swift
Your ears hear round the bend
But your very simple humbleness
Will steal the heart of men.
Together we shall thwart the pains
The gods do throw to earth
And turn aside their fiery darts
With merriment and mirth.
And when time comes that men forget
The lessons animals render
T'will be the humble rabbit
That mankind will remember."
