Something Wicked This Way Comes
(1962)
Jim Nightshade is such a powerful force in this novel. He strives to grow up so quickly, much more quickly than Will Halloway. One of the defining moments at the very beginning of this novel is when both boys discover a window in a house they can peer into and watch adults. They dub it “The Theater.” It causes the first rift between the friends.
"…Hanging to the limb of the tree, tight pressed, terribly excited, staring in at the Theater, that peculiar stage where people, all unknowing, flourished shirts above their heads, let fall clothes to the rug, stood raw and animal-crazy, naked, like shivering horses, hands out to touch each other”
